Anaheim, CA, January 2024 – TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik is introducing the Echomixer at NAMM 2024. Created by Audiopunks, the Echomixer is a germanium preamp, distortion and spring reverb plugin. Modeled after a modified version of the original 1960 Echomixer, the device is uniquely upgraded with features such as daisy chaining and flexible spring tanks.
1960 Design Reinvented
In 1960, TELEFUNKEN introduced a germanium preamp featuring three channels and a Hammond IV spring reverb. Working with original vintage units, Audiopunks meticulously recreated these channels and the spring reverb in the new Echomixer, while adding modern features to expand utility in the digital realm.
Modded Then Modeled
After servicing the units, Audiopunks modded the circuit to allow for the ability to daisy chain the three channels. This offers an organic and unique germanium distortion that can be dialed to taste.
Authentic Spring Sound
Audiopunks meticulously replicated the distinctive sound of the original spring tank, capturing every detail, overtone, and nuance with targeted precision. The developers incorporated two other popular spring tanks modules to allow the user the use of this plugin in almost any recording situation.
