Sunshine Garcia Band- “For I Am the Moon”

sunshine-garcia-wide6x4

On Friday, January 20th, 2012, during the Winter NAMM conference in California, TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik hosted a listening session at Dave Aron’s Hollywood Way Studios in Burbank. This recording session featured a performance of the song “For I Am The Moon” by a stellar lineup of musicians brought together as The Sunshine Garcia Band (www.sunshinegarciaband.com).

The entire recording features TELEFUNKEN microphones exclusively and are the first multi-track session files to be focused primarily on vocals. Each channel of the recording was tracked through the studio’s SSL Duality, direct to hard disc with no eq, compression or external processing. The only traditional instruments found on this recording are electric bass, djembe, and ukulele. All other “instruments” are being sung by a male or female voice.

Sunshine (Garcia) Becker is an accomplished vocalist from the Bay Area of Oakland, CA who has previously recorded with and is a member of SoVoSó, a highly acclaimed improvisational a cappella band, as well as the Grateful Dead off-shoot band, Furthur. The song “For I Am The Moon” was written and composed by her former SoVoSó band mate Destani Wolf, who offers a lead vocal track on this recording. Additional band members and performers on the track include SoVoSó’s Ashling Cole (lead and backing vocals), and Vernon Bush (vocals, djembe), Bill Becker (bass / ukulele), and Bryan Dean (additional bass effects).

The multi-track files from this recording session are now available for download as part of the latest installment of the TELEFUNKEN Multi-Track Session Files. The audio files are presented as 44.1k / 24bit .WAV and can be imported into the digital audio workstation (DAW) of your choice and are zipped (using 7-Zip) in groups for ease of download. All the files are clearly labeled in the same format with the source listed first (LEAD VOX, ACOUSTIC, PIANO), followed by the microphone used (C12, AR-51, etc), and then the make and model of pre amplifier (BAE 1073, Manley, Neve, API, etc.).
