Ashland, OR, August, 2013 — Renowned guitarist Jeff Pevar has completed his long awaited debut CD, “From The Core.” The music began with Pevar’s improvisations recorded in the Oregon Caves National Monument on acoustic guitar and mandocello for the PBS documentary “The Marble Halls Of Oregon.”

“I just went into the caves and started to improvise,” Pevar says. “12 songs flowed out, improvising one after the other, one take on each piece, all of them inspired by being in the caves.  It was the beginning of  a project that has evolved into my first solo album.”

Pevar took the tracks recorded in the caves and overdubbed other instruments in his home studio, using the TELEFUNKEN AK-47 MkII large diaphragm tube mic.  As the project developed, Pevar also invited special guests to add their unique flavor to the tracks, including Jon Anderson, the Yes lead singer who co-wrote lyrics and sings “River Of Dreams.”

Pevar, a respected guitar virtuoso, has toured and recorded with such artists as Ray Charles, Crosby, Stills and Nash, CPR, Joe Cocker, James Taylor, Donald Fagen’s Rock & Soul Revue, Jefferson Starship, Rickie Lee Jone, and Phil Lesh, among many others.

In his Ashland area studio in Oregon’s Rogue Valley, Pevar retained the organic, acoustic feel of the original session in the Oregon Caves with the addition of overdubs recorded with his TELEFUNKEN AK-47 MkII microphone.   “It’s a mic with great high-frequency detail and a warm and resonant low end that worked perfectly with a wide range of acoustic instruments,” explained Pevar.  “The result is a sound unlike any of the hundreds of albums I have recorded on.”
